The use of the red carpet to celebrate the traditional way by the heads of state adopted on ceremonial and formal occasions, and has in the last decades has expanded to be used by VIPs and celebrities in formal occasions.
The oldest known to walk the red carpet in literature is the sign in the work Agamemnon of Aeschylus, written in the year 458 BC. When the main character of the Trojan back, he is greeted by his vengeful wife Agamemnon, who offers him a red path to the walk in:
Now, my beloved, get off your vehicle, and do not let your foot, sir, touching the ground. Obaid, should not be deployed before the House, which he never expected to see, since it brings him to justice, the crimson road.
Agamemnon, knowing that the gods walk above all a luxury, and responds with fear:
I’m human, man. I can not trample on these colorful grandeur without fear thrown in my way.

It has rolled on the red carpet to the river to welcome the arrival of the United States president James Monroe in 1821. Uncoated rugs can be dangerous. In 2010, when Pope Benedict XVI arrived at Edinburgh Airport, in the high winds on a state visit to Britain, the red carpet has been removed for reasons of health and safety.
